Plan Ahead
for Your Out-of-Town Guests
More than likely, you will have family and friends traveling to
your wedding from out of the area. To help make their trip and stay
more enjoyable, there are a few things you can do. Including the
following information in the invitations will eliminate the stress
on both you and your guests.
Accommodations: Most hotels will be willing to block a group
of rooms at discounted rates. This will allow your guests to have
rooms close together so they can visit with one another during their
stay. A lot of hotels offer shuttle services, and having many of
your guests stay in one place will make getting them to the ceremony
much easier. It is also a good idea to offer hotels in two different
price ranges so your guests will be able to choose what fits their
budget.
Directions: You will have some guests traveling a few miles
and possibly some traveling a few thousand miles. It is important
to include detailed instructions (written and maps), especially
if your reception is at a different location than your ceremony.
With the introduction of the Internet, you can even download exact
directions from your guests' front door to the seat they will be
sitting in at the ceremony.
Travel Agencies: Depending on how many out-of-town guests
you have, using a travel agency might be an option. Travel agents
handle all travel aspects from accommodations and flights to rental
cars.
TIP 1: It is important that your out-of-town guests receive
their invitations six to eight weeks prior to the event so they
have adequate time to plan travel arrangements.
TIP 2: Imagine how special your out-of-town guests will
feel when they enter their hotel room and discover a welcome gift
from you and your fiance'!
