Are You
Happy With Your Smile?
By Gavin Blu
If you plan on spending hundreds or thousands on your wedding photographs,
then you should take your smile into consideration.
On your wedding day, you will be photographed
more than any other day in your life! Along with updos
and makeup, the appearance of your teeth can dramatically affect
the way you feel about your pictures. For some, simple whitening
may be desired while others may opt for a more in-depth procedure.
The first step, in any case, is to meet with a professional for
a consultation. Some will do this free of charge.
The two most commonly asked questions are "Can my teeth
really be whiter before my wedding day, and how long will it take?"
Depending on the procedure(s) that you choose, it usually takes
anywhere from two days to two months before the wedding for treatment.
There are some cases, such as with braces, when you will need six
months to two years for treatment.
Here are the four most common procedures to achieving
a brighter, whiter, and more photogenic smile:
Bleaching: This can be done with a one-hour in-office
treatment. You are guaranteed to see a difference with just this.
Some people choose to follow up with or prefer to use a take-home-kit
that takes three to four weeks.
Porcelain Veneers: This is the biggest positive change
for patients. The procedure takes two visits approximately ten
days apart.
Braces: It's never too late to straighten up! This can
take a mere six months, depending on the severity of the adjustment
needed.
Cosmetic Re-contouring: Some can achieve a dramatic difference
from this procedure. An example technique is the filing of a front
tooth to make it even.
The bottom line is you want to feel comfortable and confident.
If a little dental attention will help you achieve this, then a
brighter future is right around the corner.
